kids deserved better.
Our story
Elan Kids is the youth program of Elan Studios, an indie film and content production company based in Airdrie. We make films, brand stories, and a few things in between. After years of being asked, “Can my kid come watch a shoot?” we figured the answer should be: “Better — they can run one.”
We started Elan Kids because most kids’ “filmmaking classes” are arts-and-crafts dressed up with a camera. We wanted something where kids actually used the tools we use, on sets that look like the sets we shoot. Real cameras (just lighter). Real editing software (just kid-friendly). Real story problems to solve.
If your child finishes one of our programs and decides filmmaking isn’t for them — great. They tried something real, made something real, and learned how to work in a team. Those things travel.
Who teaches
All Elan Kids classes are led by a working filmmaker from Elan Studios, paired with a youth-trained assistant instructor. Our staff:
- Hold current vulnerable-sector criminal record checks.
- Are first-aid certified (one per camp/class minimum).
- Have on-set production experience — this is what we actually do.
- Are paid like adults, because they are.
Where we are
Elan Kids Studio is in Airdrie, AB. We serve families from Airdrie, Calgary, Cochrane, Crossfield, Chestermere, Okotoks, Strathmore, and surrounding communities.
For schools and community partners, we’ll travel anywhere within a 60-minute drive of Airdrie at no extra cost.
